Holly Shogbesan
Board Co-Chair & Secretary

Holly Shogbesan is a St. Louis born, flutist and music educator. After receiving a BM in Music Education, Holly moved to Oakland, California where she began teaching music for organizations such as the Oakland Youth Chorus, Oakland Public Conservatory of Music, and San Francisco Arts Education Project. She currently teaches choir, band, and orchestra in Oakland Unified School District.      

Outside of the classroom, Holly is a musician and dancer studying African diasporic traditions from the United States, Cuba, Peru, Haiti, and Brazil. She has performed in events such as the CubaCaribe festival, the Yemanja Festival, and World Arts West's Ethnic Dance Festival among others. Holly is also a board member for the East Bay Alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity.
